May 22, 2024
The 2nd round competition of the 2024 YF Life Jr. Space Camp Program, solely organized and sponsored by YF Life Insurance International Ltd. (YF Life), has been completed. During the competition, the 50 shortlisted candidates demonstrated their physical agility, space knowledge, and communication skills in both Chinese and English. After completing three challenging tests, 21 candidates were selected to participate in the final interview next month, when the honorary patrons and judges will select 8 finalists to become the YF Life Jr. Astronauts.
Launched in 1999, the YF Life Jr. Space Camp Program was the first program to provide simulated astronaut training for children from Hong Kong and Macau. It has been keenly supported by parents, children, and schools, and by a number of community leaders and university principals from Hong Kong and Macau who act as the honorary patrons of the program. With its innovative and unique training methodology, the program continues with its aim to stimulate children’s enthusiasm for space exploration and advanced technology, as well as boost their self-confidence, their ability to face challenges, and to encourage them to live the spirit of “It is Possible!”
The program selection process is divided into 3 stages, with 8 finalists being appointed as YF Life Jr. Astronauts who will embark on a 9-day U.S. Space-Exploration Journey, together with their participating parent, this summer.
